Folding your jersey hurts your hand? Here's how to fold your jersey properly

As the number of jerseys in your collection increases, do you have trouble storing them? If you have enough storage space, it is recommended that you hang the jerseys for storage, which is convenient for display and preservation. But if the storage space is limited, you need to consider folding the jerseys.

But when folding jerseys for storage, you may have encountered problems such as damage to words and advertisements, because long-term improper folding leads to creases in the printed words or advertisements. So how should we fold and store jerseys? Today I will share some of my experiences, hoping to help you.

Material preparation

I suggest that you prepare at least the following things for better storage and folding: shirt board, sulfuric acid paper, and translucent non-woven storage bag.

For shirt boards, it is recommended to choose rectangular ones with rounded corners. Right-angled ones are easy to snag clothes. The recommended size is 32*38CM, which can cover the advertising and printing sizes of most jerseys. If you have oversized advertisements or jerseys with extra-long player names that need to be stored, it is recommended to measure the size and choose a suitable shirt board.

Sulfuric acid paper, which is used to prevent adhesive advertisements or printed words from sticking, can be the same size as the shirt board.

translucent non-woven storage bag is that compared with a transparent plastic bag, it has better air permeability and the material is not easy to stick to plastic advertisements. Therefore, it is recommended that you use a non-woven storage bag for better price comparison. The translucent storage bag can also show the storage content, which is convenient for management.

Some tutorials online also recommend that you put desiccant in each bag. From my experience, it is not necessary to put toxic desiccant in every jersey. It is enough to use non-woven bags with better air permeability and put some in the storage box .

Folding method

First, lay out your jerseys and choose a shirt board of the right size according to your jersey number and name. In most cases, a 32*38CM shirt board is fine.

Use your shirt board to cover the printing, making sure both the name and number are covered by the shirt board.

Don't rush to fold the clothes at this time. After turning the clothes over, place the shirt board in the same position as the front, making sure the name and number are covered by the shirt board.

Then fold the sleeves inwards, making sure to fold along the edge of the shirt board and not fold over the name on the back. This will adjust the position of the shirt board up or down, making sure the number and printing are still not visible.

Fold the hem of the shirt up along the bottom edge of the shirt panel, making sure the number on the back does not show.

Then fold the collar down along the top of the shirt panel to complete the folding of the garment.

Pinch the overlap between the collar and the hem and turn the shirt inside out. Double-check that your name and number are fully visible.

Cover with cellulose paper to prevent the glue numbers from sticking. If it is flocking, you don’t need to lay cellulose paper.

The next step is to slowly put it into the non-woven bag.

Done, the translucent non-woven bag still allows you to see the player's name and number, making it easier to find. I used plastic bags before, but I found that plastic bags are not breathable, so non-woven bags are better.

Of course, it is still recommended that if there is enough storage space, it is best to hang it for storage. If the storage space is really limited, it is recommended to fold it for storage.
