French footballer Varane announces retirement

Recently, the 31-year-old French player Varane announced his retirement. He has played for Lens, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Como and other clubs, and won four Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles. At the national team level, Varane won the 2018 World Cup with the French team.

Varane was born on April 25, 1993 in Lille, France, and plays as a central defender. In the 2024-2025 season, Varane joined Serie A newly promoted Como as a free agent, signing a "2+1" year contract. However, he only participated in the Italian Cup at the beginning of the season, and was injured after only 23 minutes of his first appearance. After that, he did not play a single Serie A game due to a knee injury.
