China's textile manufacturing industry trade scale ranks first in the world
Sun Ruizhe, president of the China Textile and Apparel Industry Federation, said at the 2023 China Textile Conference co-sponsored by the association and the Hubei Provincial People's Government on December 19 that China's textile manufacturing industry trade scale ranks first in the world, and is accelerating the shift from Made in China to Made in China Creation, Chinese speed to Chinese quality, Chinese products to Chinese brands.
According to data from the China Textile and Apparel Industry Federation, from 2013 to 2022, China's total fiber processing volume increased from 48.5 million tons to more than 60 million tons, accounting for more than 50% of the world's total fiber processing volume. From 2020 to 2022, China's total textile and apparel exports have remained above US$300 billion for three consecutive years, contributing more than 50% to the growth of the world's total textile and apparel exports.
In addition, China’s textile industry has also actively integrated into the joint construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative”. In the past ten years, China's textile industry has directly invested US$6 billion in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, accounting for approximately 50% of the industry's global investment.
Sun Ruizhe believes that China's textile industry is focusing on technology, fashion, and green transformation and development, and has entered a stage of coexistence of "following, running alongside, and leading", with deep integration of digital technology and advanced manufacturing. At the same time, the industry has achieved remarkable results in low-carbon transformation, pollution prevention and control, comprehensive utilization of resources, and construction of green manufacturing systems. In 2022, China's recycled chemical fiber output will exceed 5 million tons.
At the same time, the internationalization of Chinese textile brands and the intensification of enterprises are also accelerating, forming Keqiao, Shengze, Changshu, Humen, Haining and other world-influential 100-billion-level industrial clusters, and industry-specific and new "little giant" enterprises. , Hidden champion companies are emerging in large numbers.
"The integration of data and reality has become the most obvious feature of the new industrialization." When talking about future development, Sun Ruizhe said that China's textile industry must explore the value of data, pay attention to changes in rules, integrate into the green economy, build on cultural confidence, and promote high-quality development of the entire industry.
